30-10 Interclub Challenge

Easty ended up finishing 4th in the interclub comp but it was a good day regardless and considering we lost Milko, Coby and Lozza in the 2 days leading up to comp so I think we done alright..the comp was dominated by sandon and scarborough.

On the Lozza subject for those of you that don't know Lozza was taken to hospital from the comp after he was speared into the bottom and received a suspected spinal injury everyone chipped in and the good news is that he got the all clear from the C.T scan last night and is at home resting.

A big thanks to all that competed on the day but especially Bryan, Neil, Boo and Rondog who came to support even though they didn't surf…thanks guys the full results are attached above if you are interested.

MOVEMBER HAS ARRIVED

This year we will be holding a mo off at the presentation. All those donning the facial hair will be asked to donate $10 (or more if you can) to raise money for Movember. There will be a prizes for the “most ridiculess looking person award”.rules are that you should shave now and start growing your beast and keep it cooking till the presentation night where the competitors will vote on their other competitors effort. A prize pack consisting of the following items ( ripcurl travel bag, towel ,hat ,legrope, dvd ,t-shirt,1 case beam and coke cans and other goodies) valued at $300 will go to the winner . Many variations off the moe exist but full goaties are not valid..let me know who is in ASAP and we’ll keep tabs on everyone would be good to see heaps of lads have a crack..
The money raised by Movember is used to raise awareness of men's health issues and donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative. The PCFA and beyondblue will use the funds to fund research and increase support networks for those men who suffer from prostate cancer and depression.

Did you know:

  • Depression affects 1 in 6 men....most don't seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide.
  • Last year in Australia 18,700 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 2,900 died of prostate cancer - equivalent to the number of women who will die from breast cancer annually.

So get behind a good cause and grow your mo.

Nias Trip

Well this is it, a mission to get here but forgotten by what we’ve already had. Arrived in camp at 1pm yesterday (Wednesday) and surfed twice up till dark. 4 to 6 foot cracking but it was inconsistent. Today (Thursday) smaller but still awesome. I (MVO) surfed for 6 and a half hours and the swell is supposedly coming tomorrow. Each wave is either a tube or 3 wack option the boys are on the bottle with the locals going hard. No wind to slight offshore both days so it’s looking the goods and from what I’ve seen in two and a half days. This is definitely the best option in indo......will update you soon ..internet is dial up so probably can’t send pictures, all will be revealed when we get back..see you soon. El Presidente and ECB crew in Nias..cheers

State Titles

Several members competed in last weekend’s state titles and unfortunately all but 1 didn’t make it to the aussie titles. Terry “RICHO” Richardson won the over 50’s state title so well done Richo. In other news the Annual General Meeting will be held ON SATURDAY the 18th of JULY at 4.p.m at MVO’s club house for anyone who is interested in the previous years finances and also want to contribute to the running of the club over the next year..cheers mick

June Update

Its been a great couple of months for the guys of East Corrimal boardriders which was capped off over the weekend with Troy the tradesmen Harriot picking up a valiant 2nd place in the o/35s of the Save Sandon Surf Festival. MVO, Neil, Milko, Hammo and Lozza had varied results but didnt make the finals so congratulations to Troy it was a good weekend with great support shown for each other by our crew on the hill.

Also Nick squizzy Squires moved to the top of the NSW championship series by making it into the quarterfinals. This competition has an elite field including a heap of WQS surfers so its another great achievement after 4 events with 3 to go later in the year.

The weekend before Beni'ma paddle boarder now Apps won the stand up paddle board section of the Snowy Mccalister event in Sydney. He also came 5nd in the FISH division and Nick I can ride anything Farrago came 4th in the open longboards and 4th in the FISH division.

These results were preceded by 6 (yes 6) of our crew Qualifying for the NSW state surfing titles to be held next month in Kiama ( Nick,Lozza,Hammo,Neil, Leffo and MVO) awesome stuff. It would be great if anyone could manage to pull off making it to the Aussie titles so good luck to all.

In other club News the Annual trip away while held on a wet weekend was a huge success and looks like getting bigger and better each year I know I for one had an insane time. This was capped off by an insane session which saw everyone surf in one session in epic conditions on the beach only several hundred meters from where we camped.

Gary i'mno relation to Rondog Power decided to go for a bit of a bike ride with a mate to raise money for charity ( cancer research) and rode from Perth to the Gong over a one month period. That is insane and congratulations and well done to Him. They rode between 120 and 160 kms a day with only two lay days. Id need a month to recover if I rode 20 kms..

Weve also added two members to our clan in Little Lucy Nolan and Jett Hornby both are doing well and will be on the waves this upcoming summer ..

congrats to all..cheers mick

April 20 2009

Congratulations to Luke and Kylie for adding another member to the Easty Boardriders Micro grom girls division, Lucy Patricia born on the 2nd April weighing in at 7.2 pounds. Congrats to the both of you we all wish you the best.

Congratulations is also in order for Max Sittle who managed to find someone silly enough to marry him. We wish Mr and Mrs Max all the best in marital bliss. We’ll see you at whatever pointscores you can make.

Presentation Night

Our presentation night was an outstanding success big thanks to all those who turned up and brought family members, we had over 100 people this year and that is fantastic for the club. We trust you all had a good time. We all know Boo Badger excelled himself in the having a good time department.

Big Winners for the night, congratulation to John (Blow in) Purcell who took out the brand new hand crafted PHD surfboard lucky door prize. Hopefully we will see Johnny next year at the board riders as a fully paid up participant and member. Next year I think we will have to restrict tickets to financial members…….Yes I’m dirty I had the ticket before him. Missed by one. MARS.

Neil Anderson wins the MOVEMBER award with a stunning 2 tone moustache, Neil took home over $300 worth of surf Accessories and on the night all the boys participating raised a quick $100 in the process.

The International premier of the Steaming Jeans was a smashing hit, the boys belted out tunes all nights and even at one stage had one young fella in the audience on Dave’s guitar. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave, Luke, Hammo, Peter and drummer, in an outstanding effort and boys, keep the 28 Nov 2009 free.

But the highlight of the evening was when one devoted groupie named Meagan proposed to the lead guitarist Pete Harris mid riff and turned him to butter. He then laid down his guitar mid song and commenced romancing his wife to be. A big congratulation to the both of you we all wish you all the best and Pete remember a happy wife is a happy life. Congratulations. Maybe the Steaming Jeans will get there second gig at the wedding.
