These fees are used directly to cover costs of Insurance for the club, Trailer rego and insurance, Council fees and purchase of new infrastructure. You are legally required to complete a membership form each year under our insurance requirements. This will also provide us with your current contact info so that all ECB info can be passed onto everyone. As part of keeping membership fees low it is required that each member sell 1 box of chocolates when that fundraiser begins in July. Your membership also includes our annual T- Shirt and the 2010 ECB calendar.

We have managed to maintain some extremely good sponsorship deals with the majority of Businesses we have had previously. Raine and Horne Wollongong are again our Platinum sponsor, Matt and his team will help you out, they are the best people to deal with. Gold Sponsors include Project CoOrdination, Accent Business Technology, Samurai Surfboards, Silver Sponsors Jax Tyres, PHD Surfboards and our new beverage sponsor is Corrimal Wines at 106 Railway Street Corrimal. Frank and his team at Corrimal cellars are great people so next time you require some Alcoholic beverages, pop in and see them and be sure as with all our sponsors to let them know that you are a member of East Corrimal Boardriders and thank them for their support. More information about our sponsors products and services will be sent to you over the coming weeks. The very least we can do is support them and help build their business.

To streamline and reduce our running time in 2010 the following changes will be taking place.

  1. Arrival and check in time IS 7 am ( as before but not many adhered to)
  2. First heat WILL start at 7.20 am SHARP
  3. No competitor over 21 years old will be allowed to surf in 2 divisions
  4. As detailed below micro and girls heats will be at 9am and 9.20.

# The aim of these changes is to complete normal pointscores at 1pm ish and all competitors who surf and judge always have the opportunity to free surf at any time.

As a part of the steamlining detailed above all of our pointscores in 2010 will feature our micro cadet (u/14) heats and all our girls heats will be held at 9.00 am and 9.20 am at each pointscore so those people can turn up at 8 am to register instead of 7am with everyone else. If as per anyone else you our planning on attending and cannot make it at the checkin time you MUST ring Mick on 0402803385 the morning of the comp between 7 and 8 am.

As per last year it will be a requirement of membership in East Corrimal Boardriders to sell 1 box of fundraising chocolates at some stage during the year. However for any one that wants the coaching and can go the extra mile then if you sell 4 boxes all the profit from those 4 boxes will provide 1 days coaching including lunch.

Available on registration day is our new 2010 calendar we have 100 A3 size copies available. Stick it on your fridge at home to remind you and anyone else of our upcoming pointscores events and sponsors, even the school holidays are highlighted. As always the calendar will be on our website of www.eastyboardriders.com.au. Special thanks to Barry at Snap Printing Wollongong, 80 Swam Street Wollongong. 42288411. For printing them for free. Greatly Appreciated.

Shane "Mars" Hornby has added to his impressive achievements for the club by securing a grant worth $5,000. Yes $5,000. As is the requirements of the grant the money must be spent within 12 months and on goods listed by the government. $2254 has already been spent on the purchase of a new tent for the club which will feature our logo plastered all over the roof and our Major sponsor Raine and Horne Wollongong covering the back wall of the tent. More money is been spent on a new P.A and the rest will be spent wisely. Thanks to his efforts we are really looking the goods in 2010.

The 24th and 25th of January saw Surfing Australia Head Coach “Gary Cruikshank” attend a two day camp of coaching the keenest persons who replied from our club. Months of emails and organizing and with the kindness of the Chapple’s in proving accommodation for Gary turned out to be a great success for all that attended. The 22 people received video analysis and advice on how to improve all aspects of their individual surfing. by all accounts this will be an ongoing feature in our clubs calendar. The costs of doing this are high but rewards are worthwhile and something your can work on every surf. A “FREE” coaching option will be provided to people who want to participate in the future.

The Jim Beam Surftag was held in crap surf at Wanda beach on Saturday the 30th of Janurary. Easty’s team of Milko, Appsy, Lozza, Squizzy and myself (filling in for the injured Hammo) were unfortunately knocked in the first round in what was easily the hardest heat of the day up against the likes of Kai Otten, Dayen Neve, Richy Lovett, Kirk Flintoff and Dylan Hannah. Our Score of 70.5 was high enough to get us through 4 other heats so hopefully next year we score a more favorable draw and with some small improvements we’ll make it to the Aussie leg of the competition. We eventually will get there and just need a few things to go our way so heads up boys for 2011.

The Annual 30-10 interclub surf comp between Easty, Sandon point, Scarborough, Woonona and WABA will be held on Sunday the 7th of March. Sandon Point ( last years winners) are hosting the event and meeting time is 7 am for a 8am start. The competition see’s a range of different age groups compete for local glory the event will run to approx 1.30 p.m and a presentation will follow at the location of the event. Easty’s competitors will be chosen by previous contest results and current form. It’s always good to have some support so if you are not selected in team why not find out where it is running and support your team mates….

The Illawarra titles for 2010 will be held on Saturday the 17th of April with a meeting place of Warilla beach. Last year Easty had 9 entries into the titles and 6 finished with trophies and qualified for the state titles. That was an amazing result for the club and this year with some more entries we hope to dominate as a club once again. Entry forms will be available through myself in early March. (You’ve got to be in it to win it).

The Illawarra Junior Titles will be held (eventually) on Sunday the 14th of Feburary at East Corrimal Beach. There was only 3 entries from our club However the boys put in a valiant effort. Brody finished in the u/18 division, Josh came in the u/16 division and Emerson finished in the u/14 division..Keep at it boys and I’m sure with more practice, Coaching and experience we can see you develop into the future.
